PDP senatorial candidate for Benue North-West senatorial district & member House of Representatives for Buruku federal constituency, Rt. Hon. Barr. E.Y. Orker Jev today on the floor of the National Assembly urged the house to direct National Youth Services Corps (NYSC) to rescind their earlier decision that suspended graduates of Benue State University from participating in the scheme from 2018 batch C to 2019 batch A mobilization exercise.
Coming under matter of urgent public importance order 8 rule 4,suspension of of Benue state University graduates from further participation in NYSC scheme, Hon Orker Jev notes that NYSC has refused or neglected to mobilize graduates of BSU for participation in the forth-coming Batch C services year.
According to him, Benue state university Makurdi has been in existence since 1992 has been before now actively participating in NYSC without hindrance & her graduates have been doing well in their different field of endeavour were recently suspended by NYSC authority without any reason for their action even upon persistent inquiries until yesterday 17th Oct 2018 when they released a letter attempting to justify their action.
Hon. Jev concerned that the reason the NYSC authorities gave for stopping BSU MKD graduated from participating in the mandatory services year was that some graduates had falsified or provided wrong data about their age in their age in their desperation to to participate in the scheme.
Worried that the conduct of the NYSC authorities has brought untold hardship on many innocent graduates who have not been included in the allegations but are eager to serve the nation.
Contributing on the motion which was seconded by Hon Gaza representing Kokona, Akwangwa karu federal constituency & deputy chief whip Hon Pally Iriase,Hon Namdas Abdulazak from Adamawa, Hon Pwajok Edward Gyang from Plateau,Hon Yakubu Aboidun from Lagos, all supported the motion & prayers.
Despite counter motion from prof Alabi Mojeed Olujunmi from Edo state, the house unanimously agreed with the motion moved by Hon Orker Jev & directed NYSC authority to RESCIND its apparently decision to suspend the BSU from further participation in the NYSC exercise because of the alleged misconduct of a few & immediately mobilize the prospective corp member to participate in the impending Batch C scheme coming up next month & finally mandate the committee on Youth development & legislative compliance to ensure compliance within one week.
